Carb Loading
This Saturday is my first ever marathon. So this week I've been faced with the not-entirely-unpleasant task of carb loading. I've heard much about this pre-race right of passage, I was kind of excited to try it out myself. I felt like I'd really be a legitimate runner now. What I'm finding, though, is that actually doing it--actually eating all the bagels and costco rolls--is not that much fun to do. But PLANNING my carb loading--now that was a lot of fun. When I put together my grocery list, I didn't know where to start. As all the carb-heavy dinners I love started parading though my head, and my mouth started watering, I had a hard time choosing. So I settled down on a veggie curry recipe from cook's illustrated one night, and pasta with garlic toast (the toast also from cook's illustraed) for the next. But I really had a hard time ruling out a batch of gnocci. Maybe next time.

Now that I am getting the hang of this and re-reading the articles that you have posted(or maybe I saw this on Werners' Christmas page for 2007) about your involvement wasn't just (like I could even do a 5k run) a small run, but a 26 miler.
Boy am I impressed! Way to go!
